Porcelain veneers are changing people’s smiles the whole world over! A cosmetic dentistry treatment, a veneer is just a thin, tooth-shaped shell made of porcelain that our dentist bonds to the front surface of the tooth.
For tooth bonding or dental bonding we use a special tooth-colored resin which is applied to the tooth then hardened using a special light. This bonds the resin to the tooth either to restore it or to improve the appearance of the tooth.
Whether your teeth have gradually become stained as you’ve aged or you drink coffee, wine, and soda with some frequency, Albee Family Dental’s teeth whitening can restore brilliant luster to your smile so you’ll impress everyone you see!
Created to be aesthetically-pleasing and flawless, porcelain veneers can correct:
Large gaps between the teeth
Chipped or cracked teeth
Stains and discolorations on the teeth
Teeth that are uneven, crooked, or misshapen
Custom porcelain veneers usually require two appointments at Albee Family Dental in Rochester. They often require little tooth preparation, making them an effective alternative to dental crowns in certain situations.
As you age, your teeth may wear from many causes but they’ll also become more vulnerable to stains from food and drinks. A well-constructed veneer will match your existing teeth both is shape and color, leaving you with a smile that’s both aesthetically and functionally improved.

The Procedure for Bonding
Bonding is a fairly simple process that doesn’t need a lot of preparation. Unless you have a decaying tooth, you are likely to not need Anesthesia. Our doctor will use a shade guide to select a color resin that will be used to match your teeth as closely as possible. Then the doctor will roughen the surface of the tooth and add a conditioning liquid. This will help the bonding resin to adhere to the tooth. The putty like resin that is the color of your tooth, is then applied and shaped to the proper size. It is also made nice and smooth. We then use an ultraviolet light or laser to harden the resin. After it is hardened, we will polish it up making it look just like the other teeth. We are able to create a whole new wonderful smile in under 1 hour per tooth bonded.
One option is our custom trays. These comfortable, thin, flexible trays are made in our lab to fit only you! Along with the trays you receive the whitening gel in small syringes. These syringes dispense the gel into the trays and you wear them up to 30 minutes per day. Most patients see a dramatic change in 1-3 days but the treatment can last up to a week. The best part? These trays can last for years so touch-ups can be accomplished by just purchasing more gel syringes.
Another option is “Opalescence Go” our disposable, whitening gel trays are pre-filled with whitening solution so you can whiten anywhere! Simply place the tray in your mouth, adapt them to fit your teeth, wait 30 minutes and then throw them away. A treatment kit includes 10 trays for your upper teeth and 10 trays for your lower teeth.
